Gear and Weapons:

Gear Importance: Gear is crucial, and some mobs drop better loot. Humanoid enemies, especially in dungeons, are more likely to drop recipes and gear, while animal mobs don’t.
Dual-Wield Weapons for Stats: Equip both melee and ranged weapons, even if you only use one. They provide additive stat bonuses and can level up together.

Armor Bonuses by Type:

Light Armor: Best for magic users, offering higher magical mitigation.
Medium Armor: Balanced between physical and magical mitigation.
Heavy Armor: Provides excellent physical mitigation for tanks.
Gear set bonuses improve with rarity, but back pieces (cloaks) do not contribute to the set bonuses.

Grinding and Dungeons in Alpha 2:

Early Solo Grind Spots:

  • Lionhold: Levels (1-5): Drops basic gear like Riverstalker armor.
  • Fields West of Miraleth: Levels (5-10): Slow-moving zombies make for easy kiting.
  • Oakenbane Keep & Highwayman Hills: Level 14 dungeons, tougher mobs, and better gear drops.

Advanced Grinding Locations:

  • Miraleth Node: Levels (5-10): Great mix of mobs.
  • Ursine Caves (15-19): Drops high-quality magical and physical gear.
  • Wreckage of Carphin (15-25): Massive grand dungeon with elite mobs and events.

PvP Tips:

Flag Status: Learn how to toggle your PvP flag early on. You can’t fight back in PvP unless flagged, and unflag when you’re done. To Flag push Alt + F, this can be re-binded.
Death Penalty: On death, you lose some materials and Glint. A portion is destroyed, while the rest can be looted by anyone.
Contested Locations: Before jumping into PvP, try messaging the other group or forming a party. Sometimes, a warning hit may be just that—a warning to back off.

Corruption is VERY punishing.

It comes in two stages, Level 1 and Level 2.

Be warned, you can lose equipped gear!

Crafting and Materials:

Crafting Basics:

The final rarity of your crafted gear depends on the rarity of the materials. For example, using a heroic zinc fragment will result in a higher tier piece of gear. Be mindful of the rarity of molds and fuel as well.
Don’t Sell Gatherables:

Items like droppings and basic gatherables are valuable for crafting and guild artisans. They sell for little, but guild artisans will appreciate the materials.
Material Bags:

Always equip material bags. There are vendors in Briarmoor Farms and east of Lionhold that sell these.

Enchanting:

Enchanting Gear:

Improving gear via enchanting is a must, but be wary of the risks. Higher-level enchantments can fail, and above +6, your item may be destroyed.
Success Rates:

Early enchantments have a 90% success rate, but this drops with each level. Use charms to increase your chances, and always calculate the risk displayed in the UI.
Crafting Scrolls:

You can create enchanting scrolls using scribing, which requires magic powder made from alchemy.

Currency and Caravans:

Glint (Gold Equivalent):
Combine your Glint for better exchange rates at vendors. However, caravans offer even better returns if you’re willing to take on the risk.

Selling Glint at vendors starts at 10 copper for Dull (common) and scales up to 100 gold for Radiant (legendary).
Caravan Process:

  • Buy a caravan at the Caravansary.
  • Load it with Crates from the Hunting Lodge.
  • Launch the caravan and protect it.

Day 1 Additional Tips From Srixun:

Guild Interaction:

If you’re not crafting, pass recipes and materials to your guild’s artisans. They’ll be able to make better use of them.
Mount Early:

After acquiring a mount from the “Sweat of Your Brow” quest, it’s a good idea to leave Lionhold and head into the world to avoid queues.
Don’t Run From Wolves:

Don’t flee from packs of wolves—fight them or they’ll overwhelm you.
Food Buffs:

Early game food like fruit salad can provide significant boosts. Scribing buffs are also powerful early on.

By following these tips, you’ll be able to maximize your leveling, gear progression, and overall experience in Ashes of Creation Alpha 2!
