Ashes of Creations 64 Classes and how to play them?
64 Class Types – 101
This article is a breakdown of the 64 classes (Archetypes) you can expect to play in Ashes of Creation in the up coming months, as part of the Alpha 2 play test.
As the play test evolves, I’ll also have links to builds you can try out yourself. You can find the 8 primary Archetypes and their breakdown below.
Bard
The bard is often a Class which is missing from most modern MMOs, so from a personal standpoint, I’m happy to finally see it represented in a modern MMORPG.
It is designed to be a support class that will buff your group and provide that edge that may turn the tides of a fight.
One of the key factors will be it’s ability to heal the group as well as provide useful buffs such as speed and power.
Below are some of the different archetypes that combine with a Bard.
Cleric
The Cleric is essentially the go to healer class at this point. Every successful group will need one and no PVE raid will be able to be completed without one. It’s not everyone’s favourite class to play but it is essential.
From a PVP perspective, it could be the deciding factor on who comes out triumph in battle. In theory it will have stronger heals then the bard, but be less offensive.
Fighter
This will be the brute force, up close and personal DPS class.
The fighter has been in every MMO since the beginning of time and we are happy to see it in Ashes of Creation.
It should be one of the more versatile classes and I can imagine a variety of builds being based around this one Archetype
Mage
This will be your mana based ranged DPS. Popular throughout the MMO genre, who doesn’t want to be a wizard? In most MMORPGs the Mage is usually one of the most powerful and yet fragile of the classes to play. However with the secondary Archetypes, it means that the Mage might take on a whole new role within Ashes of Creation.
Personally it’s one i look forward to trying, so watch this space for future builds…
Ranger
The Ranger is essentially the nature class when it comes to Ashes of Creation. Think druid with a bow, or Elf, which ever one helps you sleep at night. These will be nimble ranged DPS who will be more geared towards scouting or potential hit and runs.
As a fellow bow enjoyer, I have a few ideas as to what I want to achieve from this class… mainly hiding in a bush waiting for caravans… Although it’s yet to be determined, if this will be a better class for ganking, then what the rogue might offer.
Tank
The tank…does exactly what it says on the tin.
Although sometimes perceived as a no thrills but essential class, I for one am excited to see how the tank works in Ashes of Creation. The reason being, in a PVX environment, this will make this Archetype a truly difficult one to master.
I have high hopes for this class and expect more from it then just a high HP damage sponge.
Watch this space, as I’m sure this will become a lot of PVP players favourite Archetype to choose, especially for those players who like to fight multiple enemies at once.
Phase 2 Classes
Not all classes will be ready for Phase 1 of the Alpha 2, so below are the two Archetypes that are missing…
Rogue
We’re still yet to see the showcase for the Rogue Archetype, but here is my prediction..
Very disgusting gank build.
I look forward to learning more…
Summoner
For those of you who like raising the dead and having a few pets, this will be the class for you.
Once again, we are still awaiting the official showcase, so watch this space…
